Entrance & Parking

ENTRANCE

The main entrance is accessible through the door at the back of the garage. There is also a private entrance attached to one of the bedrooms located on the left side of the garage.

PARKING

There is plenty of parking both in the garage and in the driveway. When you leave please make sure to close the garage again so the keypad is not in plain sight. You are allowed 4 parking spots, 2 in the garage, 2 outside in the driveway. We ask that you please have at least 2 cars in the garage at all times. The neighborhood is very picky about this.

About your lake house

Kitchen & Living Room

The kitchen is stocked with utensils, storage containers, wine glasses, and spices for cooking and grilling. Regular and decaf coffee are provided! The TV in the living room has both cable and a Roku to stream Netflix, YouTube, and more. You'll also find a cabinet with board games and a drawer with menus for local restaurants in the kitchen. If you open a window, make sure to prop it up with something so that it doesn't fall!

The Bedrooms

Each bedroom has a fan for your comfort (located in the closet) and include plenty of storage space for clothing & belongings.

We provide plenty of blankets, sheets, and pillows so there's no need to bring your own!

Getting Outside

We have both upper and lower level decks with patio furniture for you to enjoy the outdoors, and a gazebo in the fenced in yard that's great for outdoor barbecue parties -- it comes complete with a fire pit. A little further down, you'll find the dock and another fire pit for campfires on the beach.

See below for a guide to the kayaks, paddleboat, and a tip about the best secret swimming location around.

Some Other Notes & Tips!

  • The washer and dryer are in the half-bathroom on the main level, right by the stairs!
  • There are extra batteries for the smoke detectors in a kitchen drawer.
  • The slider door in the mudroom sticks, so make sure to double check it when you lock up at night. You have to pull it up to get it to lock.
  • The door from the living room to the upper porch is also a little tight and you have to pull hard to get it to lock.
  • A drawer in the kitchen has a visitors guide and menus for local restaurants.
  • We also have ice fishing gear on hand for you to use, you can find it in the shed outside.

Kayaks And Paddle Boats

As mentioned, we provide two kayaks and a paddle boat free of charge. There are plenty of inlets and loops to explore on Spider Lake, and even a small island directly out from the house -- it's part of the Huron-Manistee National Forest!

If you're going to spend an afternoon swimming, the island sits on a sandbar and the island beach is the absolute best location around to spend a day in the water -- we recommend taking the paddle boat or a couple kayaks that way. Be sure to watch for boat traffic and stick close to the beach, but there is very rarely boat traffic between the island and the shore.

Some rules, advice, and safety tips for the kayak and paddle boat:

  • All users must wear a life-jacket . They are located on the upper deck accessible by the living room and dining room slider doors.
  • All children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Observe the weight limit on the paddle boat which is posted on it.
  • Please be aware of weather conditions, and if a storm arises return to shore immediately.
  • Please be aware of other boat traffic around the lake - swimming from the boats and away from the shore is dangerous and prohibited.
  • Capsizing of boats is not permitted.
  • The paddle boat is operated by turning a handle which controls a front and rear rudder.

Swimming on the Island

Your lake house sits on 60 feet of beach in a small cove on Spider Lake -- and just outside of that cove is a small island. We'll let you in on a local secret -- that island rests on a shallow sand bar and is the best spot around for swimming. Many renters take the paddle boats and kayaks and spend the whole day out there. We've included a map for you above.

Keep in mind!

Boat traffic occasionally comes through the area (though traffic through the cove by the sand bar is extremely rare).

Don't forget to wear lifejackets on the boats!

House Rules

NOISE

The neighborhood is part of the Forest Lakes Overlay community, and as such falls under certain noise ordinances. The houses are spaced pretty far apart for your convenience, but local regulations simply advise that you use common sense in not creating noise loud enough to reasonably disturb a neighbor. This includes no purposeful revving of motorcycle engines, or squealing of tires. Loud music and other similar noises are to be ceased after 10 p.m. Reports of noise violations from local authorities may result in expulsion without a refund.

TRASH

There's a trash bin by the garage where any trash bags can be disposed of. We have someone come by every Sunday to empty it. Please make sure the lid stays closed to prevent raccoons and other scavengers from getting inside.

SMOKING

We ask that you keep all smoking to the outdoors, and dispose of any cigarette butts. Cigarette butts, the smell of smoke, or other evidence of smoking indoors will result in an additional $1,000 fee.

EXTRA GUESTS & PET POLICY

Extra guests outside the renting party are not permitted overnight. The maximum number of guests is 10.

Please contact Brenden at 1-616-617-2665 if you need to amend the guest list prior to your stay!

Unfortunately we have had issues with damage done by pets in the past so we have a strict No Pets policy for this property.

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Guests are responsible for damage to the property, and charges may be added if damage is found after checkout. If the property appears dirty or damaged when you arrive, please let us know and we'll have it taken care of immediately.

NO PARTIES

Please do not throw any parties at the house. The number of guests can not exceed 10.

PARKING

Maximum number of cars is 4. The garage must have 2 cars parked in it and 2 are allowed outside the garage.

HOUSEKEEPING

Housekeeping is provided before and after your stay. The rental fee does not cover housekeeping during your stay, but a free washer and dryer unit are provided on site.
